There doesn't have to be a major twist in TLJ

Recently, I've seen a lot of people discussing what the "big twist" will be in The Last Jedi. It seems that a lot of fans are expecting an ESB level revelation that will entirely change how we perceive the new trilogy. Though it is fun to speculate about what twist could possibly be revealed at some point in TLJ, I don't necessarily think we should expect one. The new trilogy doesn't have to conform to the formula of the OT despite the "rhyming" that is a theme throughout Star Wars. Nothing will ever be as impactful as the ESB reveal, and if everyone is expecting a twist it isn't really all that effective (especially if it pertains to parentage or other familial relationships). I'm not saying that there's 100% not going to be a twist in TLJ, but just that it can still be a good film with a strong plot even without a big reveal.EDIT(clarification): I'm not trying to say that important things won't be revealed in the upcoming film, but rather that we shouldn't expect there to be a single big moment with a huge revelation similar to Vader revealing himself to be Luke's father. I've seen a lot of people speculating that there will be a moment like this, so (since the Star Wars fanbase tends to react poorly when things don't live up to our expectations) I'm just putting it out there that we shouldn't necessarily expect something like this. As u/HypersonicHarpist said in the comments:All twists are reveals but not all reveals have to be twists. A reveal is just giving further information to the audience. A twist means that that information alters the audience's perspective of something or someone in the story. via /r/StarWars http://ift.tt/2o2FO11
