Met the author of some of the Star Wars novels at Fanboy Expo, Timothy Zahn. My cosplay was Mara Jade, and he excitedly requested a picture with me. It felt super special. He also autographed the three books I bought. Nice dude, and loved meeting him!

Each of the prequels' episodic villains represents a part of Anakin's character that he loses during his fall to the dark side

I was thinking about how both the OT and ST have Vader and Kylo, respectively as an overarching villain. If Howard and co. get the green light, Obviously, Palps is in 5/6 films, but he doesn't make himself evident 'til the end of either the PT or the OT. I call him the big bad puppet master. Now I've heard people say that Grievous is a reflection of what Anakin will become after his downfall, and it was an artistic choice to put him into RotS. George Lucas loves his "rhyming". I posit that1) Anakin's downfall began right when he met Qui-gon and Obi-wan2) Each "one-off" bad guy reflects Anakin's fateful choices during their respective episode. In Episode I, Anakin is seemingly freed from slavery, but in actuality, he gives up his moral agency to the Jedi Order. This is reflected by Darth Maul, who is wholly subservient to his master.10 years later, Anakin begins to reject the Jedi Code. He gives in to passion and power over honour and order. This is reflected by the fallen Jedi, Count Dooku. Finally, in Episode III, Anakin loses his humanity, slaughtering hundreds, even within his own order. This is reflected by the ruthless cyborg, General Grievous.Every decision Anakin makes is against his own interests. He is his own overarching villain in the prequels, merely reflected by each of Sidious's inferior apprentices. via /r/StarWars https://ift.tt/2yXkqUZ

Finally re-watching The Last Jedi...

I've only seen it once, liked it when I first saw it, but felt a bit empty. Within the weeks that followed I disliked it more and more as I thought about it, and now I'm really against it. I had heard so much about needing to re-watch it to really appreciate it, but I didn't really want to see it again because of my disappointment. However, I saw it was on Netflix and finally figured: eh, might as well!I guess I'm in the minority, but on the re-watch it's so much more boring than I expected. I think at least the first time around, the shock of all the unexpected things kept me interested, but knowing all that is happening, I really don't care for much of it. The Luke stuff is still good because Mark Hamill steals absolutely every scene he's in, same with the Kylo stuff, but everything else is dreadfully boring. On the bright side, I can finally pinpoint why I hate Rose so much! I always disliked her character but couldn't quite remember why I hated her from the moment I met her, but re-watching reminded me. She single-handedly stopped my favorite sequel character (Finn) from an interesting storyline. I just think about how much better the film would be if he got on that escape pod and did...anything else besides going to Canto Blight with Rose. It was so disappointing to see Finn's character go from extremely interesting to comic idiot.Oh well, I'm not sure whether I'll get upvoted or downvoted because this subreddit seems to change its opinion on the film every day, but I'm really disappointed on my re-watch:( via /r/StarWars https://ift.tt/2yQaJrv

Let’s talk about the real lack of diversity in the Star Wars movies. The lack of alien characters in meaningful roles.

It’s utterly unacceptable at this point. We’ve now had 10 Star Wars Movies, a couple dozen tv shows, books and comics out the ass and almost ALL of them are about humans. Human characters in almost literally all of the main roles with only a token alien or two hanging around being used as a joke. They sven use the great and mighty Chewbacca as a joke because the mainstream audience is too dull to understand shriiywookThis galaxy is quite legitimately racist as fuck. It’s an actual policy of the empire and the first order to treat non humans as second class citizens. And not only is the empire doing this, Disney and lucasarts are doing it as well.I will not stand for this injustice anymore. Disney promised diversity and change and the great alien species of the Dugs, twi’leks, gamorians, mon calimari (they fucking killed ackbar OFFSCREEN), gungans, togruta, and countless others are being shafted for Human superiority. via /r/StarWars https://ift.tt/2Ixi135

I just bought Clone Wars on Blu-Ray...

And it's everything I hoped it would be. I've watched CW for years on Netflix, so I never really had the desire to buy it. I also was a late adopter of blu-ray. It was TFA that forced my wife and I to buy our first blu-ray player. We wanted those deleted scenes and extra content. Then I began to notice the image quality differences and we started replacing our dvd's. Star Wars being the first. I ended up with a bunch of Amazon gift cards so I finally bought CW. OMFG this is amazing. The quality of the picture is outstanding, like I finally noticed the Ark being load on Ryloth. So here I am doing my umpteenth run through of CW but now with better resolution. via /r/StarWars https://ift.tt/2Kg03aU

I still don't get why Kylo Ren joined Snoke and wants to conquer the galaxy.

In the TLJ we discovered how Kylo has been betrayed by Luke and turned to the dark side. I know he felt betrayed by his master but why should he want to join Snoke and conquer the galaxy just because of it?There shouldn't be other motivations? It's a lack of background that I don't understand. And you what you think? via /r/StarWars https://ift.tt/2IwVCCQ

Hamill was never known for depth in his acting chops, but he put in a great performance in TLJ, in my opinion. via /r/StarWars https://ift.tt/2KbMYPL
