Was Qui-Gon Jinn meant to be the perfect template of what a Jedi should have been?

It's said that he would ignore the council and do whatever The Cosmic Force guided him to do, he always showed love and compassion even though they weren't necessarily meant to. And in the prequels they really tried to show how the Jedi order just kind of became dogmatic, uncaring and apathetic which is kind of what lead to their downfall. Then it's interesting because once Yoda and Obi-Wan went into hiding Qui-Gon basically became their mentor. Do you think this is meant to mean more than just teaching them how to become a Force Ghost? So was he what the Jedi were meant to represent and does Luke get to talk to Qui-Gon in episode 8/9? via /r/StarWars http://ift.tt/2nuhWEc
