As much as I love the new movies, I can’t move on from something noticeable when you compare them to the OT.In the OT, each movie takes place several years apart, and we see so many planets with large and diverse populations, you truly felt like the fate of the Galaxy lay on Luke and Vader, Leia and the Rebel’s, etc. I truly felt like there was a difference between the Rebel’s small but important cause, and the Empire’s MASSIVE fleet, terrorizing the entire Galaxy. Now, contrast this with the ST. These first two movies take place in like, several hours. There’s barely any populated planets, I don’t get any sense that the war (more like skirmish?) between the Resistance and FO really matters to the Galaxy. I mean, the only planet we got with population was Cantonica, and it was literally explained that the FO-Res conflict doesn’t matter at all, just a small group of people are profiting off it! What are these scrappy Resistance rebels fighting for? I have no sense of what they gain from defeating the FO.Even minor nuances like the VASTLY reduced time it takes to travel between planets bothers me.These movies are visually stunning, and the small scale conflict is sometimes interesting, but it doesn’t feel like a WAR in the stars.Anyone agree? via /r/StarWars http://ift.tt/2mYQuPR
