We're around halfway through their 10 year deal. All EA has delivered is 2 Battlefront games significantly lacking in content and mired in progression and lootbox controversy. For those of you who don't follow Star Wars Battlefront anymore, EA has been stringing the players along with promises of a flood of new content coming "soon", and then delivering almost nothing with even more promises of content coming "soon." They just announced their "Han Solo Season", and you can look at the frontpage of r/StarWarsBattlefront for an idea of just how bad the situation is getting.Visceral Games was working on a single player story-focused Star Wars game, but EA closed Visceral Studios and cancelled it.Respawn is supposed to be working on a new Star Wars game, but after several years we've not even seen a single piece of concept art, and know almost nothing about the game. Respawn was also recently purchased by EA, giving EA more control over what Respawn is developing, which does not bode well for the future of Respawn's Star Wars game.Despite the lootbox backlash and even some countries deciding to regulate lootboxes, EA has decided to double down on pushing lootboxes. The Star Wars IP is precious to so many of us, and it's clear that quality gaming is the last thing on EA's priority list.Back when the lootbox controversy hit its peak, EA received a phone call from a Disney chairman. It's possible with enough negative visibility, Disney could be persuaded to step in again.-----Edit: To clarify, it's time for Disney to end its exclusivity deal with EA. They can continue to make money off of EA games all they want, just let other developers and publishers make Star Wars games as well. via /r/StarWars https://ift.tt/2G0Qztc
