Could Mace Windu have killed Palpatine? Was it a real “victory” before Anakin intervened?

This might be a really dumb question but, I recently binged all the digital Star Wars content on Disney+ (I hadn’t seen anything new since ‘Revenge of the Sith’).In my rewatch of the original 6 films I noticed that Windu appears to actually get the best of Palpatine until Anakin ruins everything, and my question is, was that all a distraction to last long enough for Anakin to arrive?Earlier in the film Anakin mentions that Obi-Wan is “as wise as Yoda, and as powerful as Windu” leading me to assume that while Yoda may have the strongest connection to the force, Windu may actually be more POWERFUL than him overall.If that is true, since Yoda and Palpatine fought to a draw (technically) in the empty senate, does that mean that Windu had the power to defeat the Sith Lord? via /r/StarWars https://ift.tt/3mQaxiC
