Rewatching ROTJ, Obiwan and Yoda are the kings of bad advice. They failed Anakin, and nearly lost Luke too.

Both Obiwan and Yoda pushed Luke to kill Vader. When Luke says he can't kill his own father, Obiwan shrugs and says "than the Emperor has already won". Like it was the only way. But if Luke had, he would have fallen to the Dark side and likely become Vader's replacement. Finding the last embers of good in him was the only way, but both Obiwan and Yoda seem to have written off any other solutions despite all the creeds of peace the order spouses. Is there any subsequent canon that addresses how totally wrong they were? via /r/StarWars https://ift.tt/33GSC7u
