[Spoilers] Does Vader believe in the Empire?

In Rogue One, A New Hope, and Empire Strikes Back, Darth Vader does the bidding of the Darth Sidious and seems to be a loyal enforcer of the Empire's will. But does Vader actually believe in the Empire's purpose in the same way that someone like Tarkin or Krennic does? Does he believe that the Empire is actually bringing peace and stability to the galaxy in a way that the Republic never could? In Attack of the Clones, Anakin displays imperialist tendencies when he's talking with Padme about the Senate:Anakin: We need a system where the politicians sit down and discuss the problems, agree what's in the best interests of all the people, and then do it.Padme: That is exactly what we do. The trouble is that people don't always agree. In fact, they hardly ever do.Anakin: Then they should be made to.Padme: By whom? Who's going to make them?Anakin: I don't know. Someone. And in Revenge of the Sith, Anakin declares to Obi-Wan that his actions have brought peace to HIS new Empire. So there's evidence to suggest that Anakin not even under the sway of the dark side believes that a more autocratic government such as the Empire might be the best way to rule the trillions of people in the galaxy. Of course, this is before Anakin gets dismembered and burned in the ensuing duel and he learns that Padme's dead and believes that his unborn kids died as well. After that, the Revenge of the Sith novelization implies that Anakin sees that all that Sidious promised him about the dark side and the Empire were lies:It is in this blazing moment that you finally understand the trap of the dark side, the final cruelty of the Sith - Because now your self is all you will ever have. And you rage and scream and reach through the Force to crush the shadow who has destroyed you...So the question is, when Vader leads offensives in Rogue One and A New Hope against the Rebellion and when he kills rogue Jedi, is he actually doing it in service of the Empire or is he just so wrapped up in his anger and self-hate that he's doing all of it as an emotional outlet? Because after reading more into Vader's lore, it seems like he's fueled by white-hot rage at his situation compared to what it should have been (Padme and kids) and he uses his various assignments as a way to direct that anger to a purpose instead of at the Emperor. What do you guys think? via /r/StarWars http://ift.tt/2hwuEPc
