Was 1 trillion chosen simply to choose a "big number" or is there some lore behind the interaction of the 1 trillion and the size of the planet? Is Coruscant much smaller than we believe?Assuming Coruscant is the size of Earth, it could simply not be filled to the brim with people and be the trillion population number its said to be without the average person owning massive amounts of property. However the over 5000 levels say otherwise.Earth's population density currently with 7.4 billion people is 37 people per square mile, just for comparison.Coruscant, assuming it is Earth's size, has a population density of 5076 people per square mile.Manhattan, which I've heard before as the measure for the highest you can go in terms of not sacrificing density for livability or the other way around, with our current technology of course, has a density of 66,940 people per square mile.So assuming the world had a density that of Manhattan, Earth as one full city would have a population of 13 trillion, 187 billion, 180 million people. So we already could outnumber the Coruscantis. Now let's look at Kowloon City. Yes this isn't livable by our standards. However Coruscant wasn't actually livable to anyone below the first few levels. So we can throw that out. Also, lets remember there were over 5,000 levels on Coruscant - massive levels. The Burj Khalifa probably looks like a hut on Coruscant. This says that Coruscant would have a density that would appear astronomically more dense than even a Kowloon earth - due to the massive building upwards. However this is the closest we as a people have ever gotten to the portrayed density of Coruscant.Kowloon City had a population density of 3.2 million people per square mile. Of course it didn't even reach a mile in area, but that would be the ratio. An Earth with this population density would hold 630 trillion, 400 billion people. That is absolutely insane. Considering again, that Coruscant would be even more dense due to how far upwards it was built, I easily see a population in the quadrillions.Absolutely insane when you think about it, the sheer mass amount of people that would have to live on that planet. Really puts the Star Wars universe into perspective, doesn't it? via /r/StarWars http://ift.tt/2fgVuw8
