Given the title, the following statement is pretty obvious, but here it is:Luke Skywalker is my favorite character in all of Star Wars. He's above Leia, Han, Lando, Chewie, and even Artoo Detoo and See Threepio. For starters, at the start of the trilogy, Luke Skywalker is just a normal human being - save for the fact that he has the Force, but he doesn't know about it yet. He isn't the chosen one, he wasn't born to a mother without a father, he's just a 19 year old dude who lives on a farm with his aunt and uncle in the middle of nowhere. Then, everything changes and Luke is thrown into a larger world. He's used to a normal life, spending hours doing work for his uncle, but Ben Kenobi introduces him to the universe. He meets creatures from a million worlds and experiences new things for the first time, and this is what I love about Luke.He becomes a Jedi because of his father. He doesn't have to fulfill a prophecy, or have the weight of the world upon his shoulders, but because he wants to make his father proud.Sure, he's whiny, but he has a good heart. He sees the good in people even when they can't see it themselves. He keeps going when all the odds are against him and when he himself wants to give up, but he doesn't. He braves his fears and surpasses those who doubted him - even Yoda, his own Jedi Master.Luke then finds out that Vader is his father. He loses his hand, but he decides to sacrifice himself instead of turning to the dark side and becoming a pawn like Vader. Then, when everyone else has lost faith in his father, Luke still sees the good. He redeems his father and almost gives up his own life because he isn't willing to become apart of the dark side.In conclusion, Luke is a hero. People can call him whiny, but he has an amazing development and matures throughout the trilogy, finally becoming a Jedi like his father before him. There's a lot of depth to his character and he'll always be my favorite character in the franchise.Do you guys have any thoughts on Luke? via /r/StarWars http://ift.tt/2fU1CKR
