I'll admit that. Dear god is there a problem with the acting sometimes, the over abundance of creatures running on screen when they don't need to is annoying, and quite obviously jar jar binks should not have there but even he was fine sometimes. I'll say this: there's maybe 10-20 minutes of clips that could be edited out for they do nothing for the movie, small bits of unnecessary dialogue, or jar jar antics. Here's where I explain why i liked it: I'm fixing to binge the series, in chronological order, and I can perfectly see how this starts off the saga. The empire was born of a manipulative sith who gained vast political power, and for that reason I'm fine sitting through all this trade nonsense, after all I'm really just watching the Emperor manipulate hundreds of peons right under their own noses, it's fascinating insight as to how a tyranny such as the empire was ever possible in the first place. Anakin and midichlorians, aside from the "are you an angel?" And the unbearable "yipee" I quite liked seeing young anakin. It's amazingly jarring to see that the ruthless half human attack dog known as darth Vader used to be some shrimpy little kid who loved his mommy, where did he go wrong? Why does a kid who wants to help people so much become a killing machine? Midichlorians: I'm fine with em, it takes away from the mystery of the force but it opens doors for new explanations such as bendu in Rebels, and I'm fine with anakin being a virgin birth because the (unfortunately uncanon) novel about plagueis explained that anakin was literally born so he could destroy sidious as a giant "fuck you" for tampering with the force. Overall I found it interesting how all the characters we love started off, and the foreshadowing got me really excited. hearing darth Vaders breathing after the credits sent shivers down my spine. It also goes without saying this movie has amazing sound design, music and scenery. The gungan celebration is one of my favorite songs in the series and it's eerie similarity to the emperors theme really sells the foreshadowing.I know it's a jumbled mess but that's my two cents.Tldr: I genuinely enjoy this half decent film. via /r/StarWars http://ift.tt/2fQwZVu
