"A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away..."This famous opening text implies that the Star Wars stories take place in somewhere in our universe, just long ago and far away. That's my understanding — that the story is a history (hence the whole Wookieepedia being written in past tense. For the most part this can be taken at face value, except for the existence of humans as we see them in the story.Humans in Star Wars are identical to us. They're powerless (besides the force-sensitive), equally intelligent and physically identical. It's not said how long ago Star Wars takes place exactly, but it seems extremely unlikely there'd be any continuity between Star Wars humans and Earth humans — for many reasons, namely that we didn't even begin to develop civilization until ~12,000 years ago or so.If it's the case that humans in Star Wars and Earth humans aren't connected at all, and Star Wars takes place in our universe, then it suggests that somehow, life identical to our own, with the same name, evolved elsewhere in the universe.I know it doesn't really matter, but is this ever addressed in the EU at all? Is there lore connecting what happens in Star Wars to present day? via /r/StarWars http://ift.tt/2fpzUpr
