In the middle of reading the “Ahsoka” novel by E.K. Johnston and it made me cry

So I’m reading through the canon Ahsoka novel that came out in 2016 when I get to the part where Ahsoka reunited with R2D2 aboard a ship sent by Bail Organa. At the end of their exchange is thisShe turned to go, but he rolled over to her again. He made a series of sad sounds. “I know little guy”. Her heart clenched around the empty spot where Anakin Skywalker used to be. “I miss him too”.I always wished that in one way or another we had seen Vader remember his faithful Astromech droid as he remembered C3PO in the legends comic “Thank the Maker”. I mean R2D2 was basically Anakin’s (and later Luke’s) pet.I always felt that if Vader knew that the ship he was shooting out in ANH during the Death Star trench run contained his old droid he may have held off. I don’t care how far to the dark side he was! Who could ever shoot at what was basically his dog from since he was a child (and the co-pilot during the first time he ever flew a spaceship, which I’m sure is an important moment to him).Just hearing how R2D2 still thinks about his old master makes me tear up as if it was a dog waiting patiently for his owner to come home - only R2’s owner would never return. R2 was with Anakin through everything including his trip to Mustafar and the thought that R2 will never know what happened to his old master just breaks my heart.Great book, highly recommended if you’re a fan of Ahsoka. via /r/StarWars https://ift.tt/30WwCjb
