Darth Maul's story

There seems to be a lot of confusion about Maul's story on this sub with a lot of people seemingly thinking that Solo or Clone Wars take place after Rebels and such.Therefore I wanted to clear up that confusion once and for all by giving a complete rundown of Darth Mauls story in the saga in chronological order.When Maul was an infant he was stolen from Dathomir by Darth Sidious and raised and trained as his Sith apprentice for around 20 years.DARTH MAUL (comic series)This limited 6 issue comic series shows Maul tracking down and ultimately killing a Jedi padawan which however goes against Darth Sidious' orders. Sidious is nontheless pleased how Maul handled this particular test.AGE OF REPUBLIC: DARTH MAUL (comic)This one shot issue shows some of the training Maul receives from Sidious. Maul undergoes another trial on the planet Malachor (which becomes important later in Mauls history) where his hatred for the Jedi is honed further.THE PHANTOM MENACEMaul is sent by Sidious to kill Obi-Wan Kenobi and Qui-Gon Jinn. Maul kills Qui-Gon during the Duel on Naboo but is defeated and cut in half by Obi-Wan and lost for years. He does however survive.THE CLONE WARSDriven insane by his ordeal Maul is eventually found by his brother Savage Oppress (who himself has been trained in the dark side and wants to be a Sith) and is brought home to Dathomir where his mother Talzin restores Mauls mind and lower body. Reinvigorated Maul and Savage go after Obi-Wan in revenge but are defeated. Later they overthrow Pre Vizla as the leader of the mandalorian terror organization Death Watch and conquer Mandalore with the help of various crime syndicates that Maul assembles as his "Shadow Collective". Darth Sidious learns of this and goes to Mandalore where he utterly defeats the brothers in a duel. Savage is killed and Maul imprisoned.SON OF DATHOMIR (comic series)Sidious deliberately lets Maul escape, hoping he will lead the Sith to Talzin. Sidious and his apprentice Darth Tyranus ultimately face Maul and Talzin in a duel that ends with Talzin sacrificing herself (she is killed by General Grievous) while Maul escapes and returns to Mandalore. Mauls Shadow Collective is also destroyed.SIEGE OF MANDALORE (upcoming Clone Wars Season 7)Ahsoka Tano leads an alliance between Republic forces and mandalorian freedom fighters (led by Bo-Katan) to free Mandalore from Mauls tyrannical rule. Ahsoka ultimately confronts and defeats Maul in a duel but when Order 66 is carried out, Maul is able to flee in the ensuing chaos.SOLOYears later Maul now resides on Dathomir and is the head of the crime syndicate known as Crimson Dawn that a young Han Solo gets involved with. Only very few know that Maul is Crimson Dawns leader though. Maul eventually abandons the organization when he travels to Malachor (which he knows from his former Sith training) to obtain a Sith Holocron which he hopes will allow him to destroy his enemies - especially Sidious. However Maul is unable to retrieve the Holocron and becomes trapped on Malachor for years.REBELSWhen Ahsoka and the two Jedi Kanan Jarrus and Ezra Bridger come to Malachor to find the Holocron, Maul uses this to his advantage. He kills Darth Vaders remaining Inquisitors and ultimately blinds Kanan in a duel. He learns that Obi-Wan still lives and is able to escape Malachor. Months later he briefly coerces Ezra into working with him and learns the location of Obi-Wans exile - Tatooine. Maul confronts Obi-Wan on Tatooine and when he threatens the life of young Luke Skywalker, Obi-Wan is forced to duel and kill Maul with a single strike. Maul eventually dies and finds some semblance of peace when Obi-Wan assures him that Luke is the one who will bring about the end of the Sith. via /r/StarWars http://bit.ly/2DolvVY
