Kylo Ren is an amazing character and makes every scene/interaction more interesting

I think Kylo Ren is one of the best things to come out of Star Wars in a long time. His conflict is believable and compelling, his motivations are understandable and even sympathetic, and Adam Driver does a phenomenal job portraying him. From a writing standpoint, I think his character is invaluable because he can interact with almost any character, and any time he does, the movie gets more interesting. In terms of our new characters, there is potential for great interactions with all of them:Kylo and Rey - this one is pretty obvious. They’re on opposite sides of the war, but they relate to and sympathize with each other a great deal and have an intimate connection through the Force that no one else would really understand. And their interactions help bolster both characters’ development - their shared loneliness and feelings of abandonment, their different viewpoints on how to deal with the past. It’s all amazing. Their inevitable confrontation in IX is going to be intense and emotional - would they be able or even willing to kill each other? Is there still hope for Ben Solo? Will they have to join together to bring balance to the Force?Kylo and Finn - I loved how majorly pissed off Kylo was towards Finn for most of TFA. Now that Finn’s fully committed to the Resistance, will Kylo despise him even more? I also like how Finn did what Kylo couldn’t - he abandoned the First Order because of his inner conflict. Kylo even notices Finn's conflict in TFA but doesn’t do anything about it. Maybe he relates to Finn in that way? How would Finn feel about confronting Kylo now that he’s Supreme Leader?Kylo and Poe - I loved their snark towards each other in TFA. With both being such great pilots and Kylo’s sarcastic remarks on how Poe is supposedly the best pilot in the Resistance, it’d be great to see a dogfight between them. I can also imagine that Kylo feels bitter towards Poe for how Leia took him under her wing. Does Poe know Kylo is Leia’s son? How could that play into his new role as leader of the Resistance?Kylo and Hux - there’s definitely some kind of First Order civil war brewing here. Their petty infighting to try to impress Snoke was a cool aspect to the First Order that we never really saw with the Empire. And throughout TFA and TLJ, Hux is already fed up with Kylo beating Hux down and letting his personal feelings interfere with objectives. He seems to be plotting a coup against Kylo, which will be cool to see play out in IX.And on top of all this, I think Kylo would work as either an enemy OR an ally. Like imagine if Hux succeeds in ousting Kylo in IX, and Kylo decides to help the Resistance. How would the characters respond to this? What would the dynamics be between characters if they’re willing to accept his help?Would Rey be the most receptive due to their connection, or would Kylo have to work hardest to earn back her trust after what happened on the Supremacy? Would Poe be willing since the Resistance is low in numbers, or would he be wary (especially with Leia gone)? Would Finn have an optimistic view since he himself turned from the First Order too, or would he hold a grudge against Kylo?TLDR: Kylo Ren is a goldmine of a character and elevates every scene/interaction he is in with other characters because he has interesting dynamics with almost all of them. via /r/StarWars http://ift.tt/2FYGkWV
