This must have been discussed before but I can't find anything on it specifically.Rey displays an astonishing gift for sensing and using the Force in Ep VII, with essentially no training at all that we know of. There are similarities with other exceptional people in the saga. Anakin not only survived but won the Mos Espa podrace at age 9 or 10, and Luke blew up the first Death Star within just a day (or so they make it seem) of first learning about the existence of the Force.Whether she's a Skywalker, a Kenobi, a Palpatine, a reincarnation of the Chosen One, or just a "nobody", Rey has immense Force potential. Some fans have argued she may have received training before but lost her memories of it.What if this is connected to her exile on Jakku? If she was a youngling at Luke's "Jedi academy", what if Kylo sensed her potential and believed he could somehow steal or harness her power to live up to his grandfather? I saw a theory on here recently that it was Luke that accidentally destroyed his own academy, but what if it was Rey? She was just a kid - Kylo may have turned her and a small group of Sith-wannabe students against Luke. Luke escaped, taking Rey with him, wiped her memories and placed her on Jakku to keep her safe from Kylo and Snoke - but above all to keep everyone else safe from her.One possible caveat is that, even though it's been years since the massacre, Kylo should probably recognize Rey's presence when they first meet at Starkiller Base. If he does, we don't see him mentioning it to Snoke.Another question is what Phasma is doing at the burning academy (as seen in TLJ trailer) and in what way Kylo was already involved with the First Order and Snoke at the time.Regardless, Ep VIII hopefully holds many answers. via /r/StarWars http://ift.tt/2uvzDIR
