Major Plot Point

Hi all, I've read lots on this sub and about Star Wars in general, watched the celebration, ect. I feel like i'm pretty versed in Star Wars, even though i've not read many of the books I grew up on the movies. As i've been reading everyone's theories and speculation, something that has been bugging me. Since the trailer aired everyone seems to be making the assumption that Luke saying he wants the Jedi to end is his honest to god opinion. For a few reasons I think this is wrong.First, from a film making standpoint, that would seem to be a huge plot point for the whole series going forward, would the powers at be really be ok with letting that slip this far in advance? Yes it would stir lots of controversy and discussion(read:hype is good for box office), but it doesn't have to be TRUE, to accomplish all that.Secondly, and sort of a build off the first point, this trailer is probably deliberate misdirection. They want people talking, but not to spoil the plot, so they take a line out of context that gets everyone talking and deliberately hide the main plot of the movie.Thirdly, it would make a line from Snoke from Force Awakens make no sense. He is utterly focused on Luke and his main fear is "If Skywalker returns, the new Jedi will rise" I think it is already a popular theory that this "new Jedi" would be fundamentally different from the old ones and therefore more of a threat, so maybe all Luke wants to end is the old Jedi and bring about the new ones, but I have a slightly different idea.My alternative theory is that this line comes from Reys analogue to Luke in the cave on Dagobah. The opening scene of the trailer is her falling out of a cave, all sweaty and clearly scared. The scene everyone seems to be focused on looks like her inside that very cave but with Luke blocking the exit. In the original second movie Lukes training includes the dark-side cave in which he confronts his worst fear for the first time. For him it is the physical contest that scares him at first not the more subtle aspects of the force or the galaxy. For Rey, who has already bested her nemesis Kylo, she would not be afraid of an upfront fight or a big bad evil monster, so her biggest fear would have to be either ideological or philosophical, IE, the good guys not being good or not being enough to set things right. Daisy said her character will be disappointed with Luke so it stands to reason that her fear is he wont help the galaxy, so her cave experience would lead her to confront the idea that Luke is not going to help and she is on her own(another fear we already know she has), Leading to the line we heard in the trailer. He would then tear apart her view of the Jedi. Her attitude towards them from the first movie was of myths, legends so she would have an extremely idealistic view of what it means to be a Jedi. He would explain all their flaws and weaknesses, why they aren't fit to return to the galaxy, ect. This would shake her to her core and leave her feeling completely alone with no hope. This also sets her up to be the perfect Jedi, acknowledging her(and their) flaws and overcoming them as the process of her training. Is this something people have been discussing already and I have just missed it? Love to hear any counterpoints or arguments, have at me! haha. via /r/StarWars http://ift.tt/2oKezcY
