Did Palpatine have a backup plan in case either side "accidentally" won the war?

Let's say if Grievous and Dooku were killed before ROTS, the war would be over. For example, when the Gungans captured Grievous on TCW, they could've killed him. Anakin could've killed Dooku in the same episode if his guard weren't there. And poof, the war would be mostly over. What would Palpatine do then? I doubt he'd execute Order 66, since Anakin hadn't turned yet. He would have to step down. Then what? via /r/StarWars https://ift.tt/TdMFOeK
