Why aren't personal shields more common

Watching the clone wars series, that question came to mind. I've researched a bit but didn't find a satisfying answer. Most people only talk about some kind of metal shields or sometimes shields similar to the ones the Gungans used but I haven't seen any reasonable explanation why bubble shields like those of the droideka are almost non existent.I understand that it probably wouldn't be feasible to equip a standard clone trooper with a personal shield but what about on special characters like clone commanders or Jedi? Or on heavy weaponry like ATs and artillery. It's not like it would impair their movement at all, they are shown to be near impenetrable by handguns and blasters and there are multiple occasions in the films and shows where Jedi get hit by blasters which could have easily been avoided. They also obviously don't take up a lot of space when you look at how a droideka is built.I know most stuff in the star wars universe doesn't look too well thought out when you take a closer look but this seems like such an obvious flaw that it's seriously boggling my mind now. via /r/StarWars https://ift.tt/2VIZ61C
