Why is Count Dooku so unpopular? (Or was I just unlucky)

So I once commented on this post about who people's favourite Star wars character is, and I said mine was Count Dooku because I find his lore intreging and his lightsaber style artistic, but I ended up recieving 290 downvotes and hateful messages saying that he was a terrible character and Christoffer Lee was a terrible actorI completely disagree with that but I'm not willing to argue about it, instead I want to learn why he's so unpopular, can anyone help shed some light?
