Should the Jedi have been more of a secret cult in the prequels?

Instead of being like a public police force that work directly with the Chancellor and the Republic would it be better if they were more mysterious and had a hidden secret temple on some far away planet instead of in the capital? I think it would've been better if the Jedi were secret peace keepers whose existence was thought to be only a myth by most other beings in the galaxy. via /r/StarWars https://ift.tt/3fyyBmF
