Dave Filoni has an insane knack for taking really questionable/weird decisions and making them genuinely work...

And not only work, work well.If I had never seen The Clone Wars, Rebels, or The Mandalorian, if you had told me this man helped make shows focusing heavily on the canon-fodder clone troopers, resurrecting Darth Maul, giving Obi Wan a girlfriend, giving Anakin a spunky young padawan, making a dimension with a Force Being family, making an 80's-movie-type group of Super Clones with exaggerated personality traits, making a giant talking space moose, and co-heads a post RoTJ show with the husky guy from "Swingers" where Luke Skywalker, a resurrected Boba Fett, a non-Boba Fett Boba Fett, Anakin's spunky padawan, Mulan, Bill Burr, and various characters from his other shows look after a baby version of Yoda that eats cookies, I would've said that this man sounds like the kiss of death for Star Wars...But my god, when it's actually done...When you actually see it, it just somehow works. So many of these ideas so easily could've been disastrous, franchise-killing even in some cases if done wrong. But lo and behold, Darth Maul and Ahsoka are now some of the best characters in the entire franchise. The Mandalorian is universally loved by the entire fanbase due to him and Faverau. The clone troopers are now tragic and loved by millions. These ideas only help add to the gigantic universe, and provide so much more context for other Star Wars media. So big cowboy's hat off to this guy, he and John Faverau really have made this franchise so much more broad and interesting!edit: I didn't mean to make it seem like Filoni is the only person involved with these shows, or that every idea he has is pure untouchable gold (fuckin copter sabers? really?), I just found it really fascinating that all these shows that he's heavily involved in have these actual insane sounding ideas (again, Maul surviving) that just somehow work. I probably should've said that he helps bring these crazy ideas to life. via /r/StarWars https://ift.tt/37Cb3tn
