On people calling for Party Jenkins to be fired after WW84

[I was posting about this on another sub, and I thought it made sense to post it here as well.]Patty Jenkins's last two films were Wonder Woman, arguably the best-received of the DCEU movies to date, and Monster, and Oscar-nominated film. After Wonder Woman 84 proved to be a let down, people immediately rushed to call for her to be fired from Rogue Squadron. Colin Trevorrow's latest projects have been Jurassic World (mediocre), Book of Henry (laughably awful) and the screenplay for JW: Fallen Kingdom (terrible), yet there are still many people who think she should have been allowed to do his version of Ep. IX. Although not SW related, a similar thing happened with Ava DuVernay when it was announced she was going to be developing New Gods for DC/WB. Yes, A Wrinkle in Time was bad, but she also made Selma and When They See Us. The lesson seems to be: men can make a bad movie and still get the benefit of the doubt, but with women it's one mistake and goodbye.[Edited for typos]And yes, I have been made aware that I call her "Party Jenkins" in the title. via /r/StarWars https://ift.tt/2WMVb0G
