As someone who grew up primarily watching the prequels, I never really had a strong opinion on the adult version of Boba Fett. He definitely looked cool and everything, but given that I'm unfamiliar with the EU and only know him from a few scenes in TESB/RotJ, I never understood people's obsession with the character. He honestly seemed quite overrated, and I always found it kind of funny to see EU fans lose it when people would make fun of him for never actually doing anything and going out like a complete punk. But now, with a single 30 minute episode, Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni and Robert Rodriguez have essentially rewarded decades of faith by the Boba supporters. Not only is it officially cannon that he didn't die via accidental jetpack ignition (which technically wasn't confirmed until this week despite his nameless appearance in The Marshall), but we also finally have first hand evidence that he is one of the most legendary bad-asses in the Star Wars universe. When his return was first teased in The Gunslinger, I was pretty against the idea, given how Maul and Palpatine also survived a seemingly final death and I didn't want the franchise to further that precedent. But after getting just a slight taste of what he's capable of, I genuinely take back every negative thing I've ever said about the character/his return, and I'm extremely excited to see what he does next. It's legitimately wild how one action sequence turned a common Star Wars debate completely on it's head, and I can't even fathom how overjoyed Boba Fett fans must be at the moment.
