Reminder: Discuss the franchise, not the fanbase

We wanted a remind everyone of the first rule in our “high quality content only section”Discuss the franchise and not the fanbaseThe scope of this rule is that topics and posts to r/StarWars need to be actually related to the Star Wars franchise and not goings on within the fanbase, or arguments between fans, or things from other people’s personal lives that don’t have a bearing on official Star Wars content. Here are some examples:Current Star Wars director is arrested, in the middle of production of a series/movie, with news stating it may delay production/release. – This is related to Star Wars, as it may impact the franchisePosting your unique take on your experience at Galaxy’s Edge, and how it did or didn’t meet expectations – This is related to Star Wars, and a part of your experience with the franchiseFormer Star Wars actor gets a DUI, and apologizes on Twitter for their mistake – This isn’t related to Star Wars, it has no bearing on the actual franchiseMovie critic that is renowned for reviewing Star Wars movies gets coronavirus – This isn’t related to Star Wars, it has no bearing on the actual franchiseThere is a debate over in another subreddit about certain types of fans of the franchise, and you want to cross post it here? Don’t. – This isn’t related to Star Wars, and is a discussion of the fanbaseObviously, this doesn’t cover everything, so there will surely be questions on removals, why’s, grey areas, etc. We will listen to your opinion on a removal, but likely will not debate or argue with you over it.With that being said, the subreddit does not condone any form of toxicity in the fandom, on our subreddit and in our discord, and we will remove it and promoters of it as we see fit, even if that entails leadership. I personally wrote this post last year, because we were tired of the lack of respect and toxicity here on the sub. There are plenty of social media venues for arguments, debates, finger pointing, crap posting, and discussions of things not directly related to Star Wars, just not here.Thank you for your time via /r/StarWars https://ift.tt/2VYsxKz
