Simply put:Finn was weak, not particularly skilled in much, and was torn between fighting evil or running away, setting up tons of room for character development and growth in future movies.A stormtrooper turned Jedi, which is more interesting than a young hero growing up in a desert who dreams of something more.Despite being a weakling, he still stands up against people more powerful than him in terms of strength and status, which makes for a relatable and endearing hero, and something we can all aspire to be.Finn training with Luke would've been more entertaining and the two would've had better chemistry.Kylo Ren is the grandson of Darth Vader, and watching a lowborn stormtrooper rise up to become his equal in the Force, would've driven him absolutely mad, and would create an interesting dynamic.Rey would've been a more fun and endearing character as the spunky scavenger who can tinker, repair, hack, and infiltrate. She should've been the Thief of the party. I found her to be the most likeable during the first half of The Force Awakens.Poe would be his best friend and the pilot/sharpshooter of the party, that would stay by Finn's side since they crash landed on Jakku. We could've had an amazing moment with Finn standing tall, lightsaber in hand, inspiring other Stormtroopers to break away and rebel, creating an insurrection. Not really a reason, but John Boyega is a delight and arguably had the most passion for Star Wars than the rest of the cast.If you like the Sequel Trilogy as is, that's cool. But I believe a version of the ST where Finn was written to be the main protaginst, would've made for a more unique and interesting journey. Because if the message of the Hero's Journey in the ST was "Bloodlines don't make you special", then a Stormtrooper and part time Janitor turned hero, delivered that message way better than a homeless girl who was an expert at everything and the grandaughter of Palpatine.Finn the hero, Rey the spunky love interest, and Poe the bro, the trilogy should've had these three together from start to finish. via /r/StarWars https://ift.tt/2WVHNbw
