Let me preface, I liked the movie, but I don’t understand why there is such denial over the backlash TLJ got. Every article you read that remotely pertains to Star Wars now says something about a “vocal minority” of fans that hate the film. The theories range from nazis to robots as to why the Rotten Tomatoes audience score is so low.I enjoyed the twists and turns the film took, but I don’t know how it’s expected of everyone in the fandom to. If you hit a speed bump, you might lose a few passengers. I have yet to really meet anyone else in person who said they enjoyed the film; I was the only one of my friends who went to see the film who liked it. If I were to believe today’s journalism, I ought to reevaluate my friend group, because they’re apparently all Russian agents.Don’t get me wrong, some of the backlash has been absurdly bad, with people attacking Kelly Marie Tran and taking a kids film way too seriously, but somehow this behavior has barred anyone from ever making a negative comment about the film in any way. Just because I liked it doesn’t mean it’s perfect. That lactating alien was damn weird, and I had to shroud my eyes as Leia flew through space.Combating the fan base isn’t doing anyone any favors either. Every time Rian Johnson gets fired up and loses his mind over some pee-on scrub being an imbecile on twitter, I cringe. Bad behavior should never be met with worse behavior, and for that reason I’m not really comfortable with Johnson becoming a permanent facet in this community. With all that said, I’m stoked for IX and really like the way things are headed. Everyone just be cool and be mindful of those who feel differently than you do! Right now this fandom has too many Anakins and very few Lando’s... via /r/StarWars https://ift.tt/2TqBZ9Y
