So just what exactly is the point of the Sequel Trilogy?

I can't wrap my head around why Episode 7, 8 and 9 are being made. Perhaps we'll find out in 9, but I genuinely don't understand the purpose of the story they're trying to tell within the context of the saga. The cynic in me says soulless cash grab, but I genuinely want to believe that Lucasfilm had some sort of angle or passion regarding the themes.Everything leads me to believe otherwise.30 years later, the Empire 2.0 is around and we don't know why. They have infinite resources and another Death Star but this time, it's cool because it can esplode 5 planets instead of just one. Pretty neat, huh? Instead of Rebels, we got the Resistance. Totally different. And instead of Luke's Jedi academy, they all die and now this girl named Rey is gonna accomplish all that, and she's really neat because she can lift 50 rocks at once with no biggie (Yoda could barely lift a column in AOTC). She also somehow knows how to do mind tricks. ALSO, Luke doesn't wanna be a Jedi like his father before him anymore because his nephew kept thinking about evil stuff. There's also a guy named Snoke. He is super powerful in the dark side and old but we have no idea where he came from or how he came into power because lol, we didn't know anything about the Emperor in Episode 6 so it doesn't matter, right? Luke, Leia and Han will be back but they won't share a single scene all together because Luke hogs the spotlight too much, even though that's almost a non-problem because he's like, the main character and people waited 30 years to see him back. You want him to use his green lightsaber and actually do cool stuff? What? That's boring and stupid! Let's just have him be bitter on an island.Seriously, this entire trilogy seems like a mess and I have no idea how the ninth one is gonna clean things up. Almost seems beyond repair. via /r/StarWars https://ift.tt/2Ta9uxc
