In ROTS after Obi Wan defeated Anakin on Mustafa, Anakin fell and began to burn alive. The only way that he was able to pull himself away from the lava was using his mechno-hand which he got after Dooku took off his real hand in AOTC. If he did not have this mechno-hand his real hand would of been melted and not have enough strength to pull himself up. This means that Anakin would of most likely burnt to death before Darth Sidious could rescue him. via /r/StarWars http://bit.ly/2FeHtw1
