Why did the First Order not send out more than 4 fighters? The Resistance would have been destroyed in a matter of minutes.

It is established early on in "The Last Jedi" that a squadron of 4 fighters was able to destroy the bridge of the Raddus and take out its entire hangar. Logically, MORE fighters would be able to destroy the whole Resistance fleet.It is also established that the Supremacy and other Star Destroyers are unable to destroy the Resistance fleet. However, this revelation comes AFTER they send the fighters. Wouldn't sending MORE fighters be the next logical step?Hux becomes visibly frustrated with the fact that they are unable to destroy the rest of the fleet immediately. "What is the point of all this if if we can't blow up 3 tiny cruisers?" But...they can. They just blew up huge parts of the fleet with a few fighters. They have thousands more. Why not send them? Is Hux just stupid?This is an organization that has no qualms about stealing infants to raise them as slave soldiers and is a credible threat implied to be able to take control of the entire galaxy.
