EDIT: Typed this all up on my phone so I apologize for the error in the title.Even when it was first released it was decried as not a very good effort on Giacchino's part, and people are correct in saying that it isn't John Williams, but I'd like to propose an argument.Rogue One isn't John Williams as he composes now, but to me it's damn close to his style back closer to the original film. Maybe I am more forgiving of it because I grew up listening to the music composed for all the old video games like Dark Forces, TIE Fighter, the Shadows of the Empire soundtrack but Rogue One's soundtrack fits right in with those of the original films well. One of my favorite things on the soundtrack is the Imperial theme. I love how Giacchino adds the Death Star motif from A New Hope to the end of it at one point, as if it was revealing the rest of the initial poece and elaborating it into a theme. Finally, I love Rogue One as a film. It's so reminiscent of Dark Forces it's not even funny. The library on Scarif reminds me of the pizzle at the end of the Fest mission where you have to use switches to spin the platforms around the central pillar. The game includes the stealing of (part of) the Death Star plans and Cassian is pretty much a new version of Kyle Katarn. via /r/StarWars https://ift.tt/2L9fm0A
