Why should they be someone special? Why does every great Jedi have to come from greatness? Why should they be somebody amazing just because she wanted them to be?Rey overcame everything. Abandonment, homelessness, starvation. Even general survival on a hostile world. She powered through it all, didn't always come out on top, but still came out of it stronger. To me, that's a way better character than, "they're strong because they were born that way".While I understand it can be disappointing to find out her parents aren't anything special after a lot of build up, it may be better to instead realize the entire point of it all was to help Rey realize she doesn't need to rely solely on the strength of others. That she can be great without great parents. That it doesn't matter who her mother or father were. What matters was the journey that made her into who she is today. What matters is the strength she has gained. I think it's a really important message about self discovery and recognizing your own inner strengths. It's devastating, absolutely. To discover your parents abandoned you is awful. But rather than complain that build up was for nothing, recognize the importance of her ability to overcome throughout her life. via /r/StarWars https://ift.tt/2NPC40k
