Poor R2-D2... When I was re-watching TLJ and reached the flashback to Ben destroying the Jedi Temple, I couldn't help but feel so bad for R2. You may feel bad for Luke being the catalyst for Ben's betrayal, having his new Jedi Order destroyed, AND losing his nephew, but at least he was passed out during Ben's deed. In the flashback, as Luke is climbing out of the debris of the hut, there is R2... Sitting there... watching Luke's order burn... He probably watched Ben Solo murder half of the Padawans, destroy the temple, and even worse, for all R2 knows, his best friend Luke might even be dead. That has to be some traumatizing stuff... The poor droid was just sitting there, watching, horrified and alone, until Luke finally climbs out of the debris. R2 has seen some really messed up stuff...
