The fact that the New Republic is completely destroyed and the Resistance is all that's left is immensely disappointing. The opening crawl of Episode 8 basically suggests that the entire Galaxy is going to surrender to the First Order.It's Rebels vs Empire all over again and I believe having a crippled New Republic struggling to get back on it's feet and electing Leia as an emergency Supreme Chancellor could have been much more interesting than just writing them out of the story all together.It basically makes the Rebel Alliance's sacrifices throughout the OT completely pointless in retrospective. via /r/StarWars http://ift.tt/2kMYRwf
