Watching the original on Father's Day and just thinking...Criterion has proven themselves to be terrific film archivists. What better film (or trilogy of films) to be archived in their collection than the original unedited trilogy of Star Wars films.Criterion is a premium brand that makes high quality releases of classic films, which caters to the cinephile. It would provide the best way to approach the unedited versions, in a raw original release format which would preserve the film history aspects of the original trilogy.Having the degree of separation by using Criterion, you wouldn't step on the more commercial aspects of the special editions. It would be catered to film fans and not the masses.
