This is the latest in a series of posts designed to review the news of the month for anyone who may have missed anything. This post will just review non-Celebration news, because a Celebration review was already posted. One thing the Celebration review missed: IDW will be publishing its first original Star Wars series, aimed at younger audiences and not steeped in continuity despite being canon. Lightsaber lore in TFA and the Ahsoka novel

[Ahsoka spoilers ahead] In the Ahsoka novel, we were introduced to a lot of new lightsaber and kyber crystal lore, mainly how kyber crystals are meant for specific people and they "sing" for these people so that they can be found. In TFA, Rey hears the legacy saber calling out to her in Maz's castle. Could this be the kyber crystal "singing" (albeit a song of suffering) to her as seen in Ahsoka? It would also explain why the lightsaber came to her instead of Kylo on SKB, as we also see Ahsoka pull the crytals straight out of the sixth brother's saber since they are meant for her.
