Dear George Lucas: PLEASE TELL US WHAT HAPPENED.

To The Attention of Mr. George Lucas,PLEASE write a comic book adaptation of what your Star Wars stories were going to be for the final Star Wars trilogy. You have spoken several times in the press about a story that centered around young people taking part in a galaxy-crossing adventure that would have finished off your nine-movie arc. When Disney and Katherine Kennedy took over, they decided to go in another direction. They have certainly undertaken their efforts to continue the franchise with respect and aplomb. But Star Wars was your story sandbox first. We still want to hear and see what that original vision was!I very much enjoyed Dark Horse's The Star Wars comic. It was a fun way to look under the hood at what made your initial ideas for the stories tick. And it was certainly enjoyable to spot ideas that evolved in other ways, into other characters and motifs, in the iteration of the story that became the movies. With the arrival of the Star Wars Legends brand, we now have plenty of non-canonical Star Wars materials that fans find enjoyable. Seeing what your vision for the final trilogy could have been would thrill the completist fans out there (like me).I have gone to see all the new movies. And it's not that I didn't enjoy them. But they're different. It irks me that they're not George Lucas movies. To me, the new tone and feel of The Force Awakens and Rogue One is more stark, more serious...and I can't take my kids to them. Granted, things are always darker before the dawn. But TFA and Rogue One just seem like a different franchise to me. And TFA does not feel like a continuation. It feels like the reboot that it is.Anyway. I hope you read the Reddits. There are many of us who hold you in high regard as an inspiration, and as a storyteller. I know you're going to be busy building your new museum. But I hope you'll find some time to write a few comics. Like...maybe nine of them? How about three issues per movie, telling us what would have happened in your final trilogy. And if you don't have time, send me the notes. I'll write'em for you, you can edit, and then we'll share all the word-treasures hidden in your little red notebooks with my fellow fans when the time is right (how about...just before you open your new museum, maybe? That would be a pretty great tie-in promo, yes?)I know you're probably happily retired. But we're still out here, George. And we're still interested in your stories.May the Force be with you, sir. via /r/StarWars http://ift.tt/2kRjMzv
