... was the fact that for the first time in any Star Wars movie this was told from the perspective of normal people. Episodes 1 through 7 are all told from the perspective of powerful force users on at least somewhat the same footing. So you never really feel their power because you feel like you're right there with them. The entirety of Rogue One is told from the perspective of non force users so when people are fighting people for the whole movie I pretty much forgot about space wizards. Then BAM! Out of nowhere that saber ignites and your exposed to the true power of Vader and all of a sudden you realize what these people look like to everyone else in the galaxy.
