I've lurked on this sub forever but this is the first time I've been compelled to post. I've seen some complaints that Vader's joke, pun, whatever you want to call it "Be careful not to choke on your aspirations, Director" after he choked out Krennic was lame and out of character for such a menacing figure as Darth Vader. I'd like to point out some obvious instances of Vader's similarly sarcastic, even corny humor in the OT:A New Hope: "I find your lack of faith disturbing" after an encounter with an imperial officer who questions the validity of Vader's faith in the Force.Empire Strikes Back: "Apology accepted, Captain Needa" spoken to Needa's choked out corpse. "We would be honored if you would join us" spoken at a dinner table upon the capture of Han, Leia, and Chewbacca in a tone of voice dripping sarcasm even through the robotic voice of his helmet. "Impressive...Most impressive" spoken to Luke on Bespin. Even if Vader is somewhat impressed with Luke's maneuvering ability, we know he's toying with him, so Vader was not really impressed at all.Return of the Jedi: "I hope so Commander, for your sake. The Emperor is not as forgiving as I am" when it's well known Vader is not very forgiving at all.My point is that a sarcastic, even witty line at Krennic's expense is not at all out of character for Darth Vader. In fact, he seems to thrive on such lines. via /r/StarWars http://ift.tt/2icIhmr
