One thing I'm just now realizing about Qui-Gon and RotJ's ending.

Qui-Gon pretty much shows how conventional Jedi thinking isn't always the best solution to a situation. When you really think about it, without Qui-Gon's practical approach and without his willingness to bend the rules, the group likely would have been stuck on Tatooine. Obi-Wan would be hard-pressed for solutions because his rigid adherence to the Jedi Code would prevent him from doing something like using a slave boy in a podrace or indulging in somebody's greed. It all comes full circle when you realize that Luke had two victories in RotJ, and neither was won by falling back on the Jedi Code. He beat Darth Vader by giving into his rage and he beat Emperor Palpatine by showing his father love and compassion, two things that the Jedi Order strictly forbids. This is something that Qui-Gon might have encouraged, to a degree, whereas Mace Windu and the other Jedi Masters would have stuck to their Jedi ways and likely would have been defeated. via /r/StarWars http://ift.tt/2hiamcF
