After rewatching A New Hope again, I realize the interaction between Vader and the imperial officers on Tantaive IV is much more professional than subsequent interactions..

On Tantaive IV, Following the boarding action and Leia's capture, the officer walking with Vader immediately suggests to Vader that "Holding her is dangerous' (for political reasons) and continues to question Vaders Tactical decision making... And Vader answers his questions with a surprisingly agreeable tone, and elaborates his plan without threats, or choking the officer out. The officer in question appears to be even lower rank than the commander who tells Vader about the escape pod, as well. Obviously this was the first film and behavior wasn't well established quite yet, but what could have caused Vader's less amicable tolerance for being questions or failure in the later Canon? via /r/StarWars https://ift.tt/38CxZ5f
