Stellar writing, epic acting, beautiful scenes... This show has everything except Jedi and lightsabers. And don't get me wrong, I love the shit out of jedi vs sith, saber duels and all that, but I honestly haven't missed them at all in Andor.Remember when Luke steamrolls the dark troopers like it is nothing while Mando, a seasoned fighter in beshkar armor struggles for the life of him to kill just one?We got so used to see the Star Wars universe through the eyes of basically gods that it is easy to forget how oppressive and dark the world under the Empire is for the average Joe. And this makes Andor's atmosphere so dark and anxiety inducing at times. You know they can't just pull a jedi trick and jedi their way out of trouble. Most of Star Wars up until now basically ridicules stormtroopers and makes the empire look like incompetent idiots and we know our heroes are going to win and their struggles don't even seem that difficult, all things considered. But then you get Andor which is a smart resourceful guy yes, but it is only a dude with a blaster at the end of the day, and you get to see how the Empire takes whatever they want and common people cannot do anything about it. The desperation, the horror, how much all the early rebels put on stake just to exist and even think of resisting against the major evil that rules above them.My favorite fact of all of this is that it shows how many people it takes everyone risking everything in order to do their little grain of salt in an ocean of injustice. The desperation of Kino, Maarva coming to terms that she is basically powerless, Saw getting ultra paranoid, Mon Mothma on the verge of a mental breakdown... This is the story of many humans at their very limit doing all they can to set in motion something that back in the day we saw it and it seemed obvious and straightforward. Andor is finally making justice to all the original unsung heroes.I want more jedi/sith soap opera stuff, but I hope other Star Wars show writers also keep exploring other sides of Star Wars that don't involve everything that we have seen before. via /r/StarWars https://ift.tt/iP51ovM
