I was lying awake the other night and it occurred to me that, although it’s portrayed that Luke and Han have a deep and abiding friendship, we don’t actually see them spend that much time together in the OT. In ANH, they spend a couple of frantic days together as practical strangers which culminates in a huge victory, then in ESB we only see them together on Hoth and then separate the rest of the movie. Even in ROTJ, they are only together with Jabba, Luke leads a hat trick rescue of Han and then Luke comes back for the start of the Endor mission and then separated for the rest of it.The only explanation I can think of is that several months have elapsed with the rebels going from base to base between Yavin 4 and Hoth, and their friendship was solidified during that window of time. (Also, I understand that not showing everything can be a function of storytelling.) Yet, I still think it’s interesting that the context of their friendship is basically implied when it’s one of the main motivators of how the primary characters interact. via /r/StarWars https://ift.tt/ylUtkPc
