The Main Flaws With The Rise of Skywalker

Palpatine's revival is completely out of the blue. They killed Snoke (the Palpatine-like character) in the last movie and set up Kylo Ren as the main villain However, JJ just backtracks on Rian's decision and brings Palpatine back. This had no set-up or foreshadowing, and since the movie instantly dumps a bunch of information that Palpatine was behind everything the entire time, it alienates the audience.Rey's lineage. The "Rey Nobody" twist in The Last Jedi was AMAZING. It made the force feel mystical again and conveyed the message that you don't need to be part of some special bloodline to be a hero, However, The Rise of Palpatine flushes this revelation down the toilet and makes her a Palpatine. Why does everyone need to be related. Also, it's not just about me liking Rey Nobody more than Rey Palpatine. It's the fact that they changed their mind IN THE MIDDLE of the trilogy. Like seriously. . .reveal one lineage and then stick with it. This decision was horrible.Rey's internal conflict is not compelling. The only bad things she's done in her life is get a little too angry and stab Kylo Ren (who she immediately healed). But now after learning she's a Palpatine, she's like "OMG I'm going to turn evil." Furthermore, Palpatine's blackmail at the end of the movie when he's like "I will give you UNLIMITED POWER" doesn't work because Rey has never expressed the desire for more power.INFORMATION DUMP: Since Disney didn't have a consistent vision for this trilogy, in The Rise of Skywalker, they needed to dump so much exposition and information on us instantly in order to make a proper conclusion. They should've built up the story naturall throughout the trilogy. We have Palpatine's return, the final order, the sith eternal, Ochi's dagger, and so much other shit just randomly introduced. This makes the first 30 minutes or so of the movie feel way too fast.PLOT HOLES/DUMB CRAP: They just happen to find the super duper important dagger (that they didn't even know existed) in a random hole in the dessert. Furthermore, there is a huge chunk of the Death Star even though it was completely vaporized in Return of the Jedi. That's. . .a little silly. Also The First Order (the main villain of the first two movies) wasn't even destroyed in this movie. The FINAL ORDER got destroyed. Removing a factor that was introduced less than a day ago doesn't do shit for the conflict you're already fighting. via /r/StarWars https://ift.tt/earAHGn
