It was a refreshing take on Star Wars. New characters, new stories. We still got the Empire, we still got the Force, it wasn’t completely disconnected from the lore we all know and love, but it was different: no Jedi, no Sith, no lightsaber duels, none of the main characters of the Skywalker Saga. But with the recent leaks, albeit technically still unconfirmed, the whole premise of originality is really undermined in my opinion.I know they’re fan favourites, I too would love to see more of Ahsoka and Boba in the future, but they really feel shoehorned in just to appease fans. Especially the former, who already got 7 TCW seasons and 1 in Rebels so isn’t exactly in need of more immediate exposition. Maybe Dave Filoni just won’t write a story without her ¯\_(ツ)_/¯My biggest gripe with the latter character goes a bit beyond that: Boba’s cool and it was sad to see him die that easily in ROTJ, but the new Star Wars franchise apparently has a problem with deaths: Maul, Palpatine, now Boba. Why can’t deaths last and be meaningful?. I get he fits in the overall theme of the series, but still, why not a new guy? Why keep recycling old friends and foes? Thanks for coming to my TED talk, I’d love to hear your opinions on the matter. via /r/StarWars https://ift.tt/2yMOnb0
