If Palpatine was heard laughing at the end of the Last Jedi instead of in the first trailer for the Rise of Skywalker people would probably have been much more excited and less hate on the film.

I liked the last Jedi apart from the thing about Snoke but having Palpatine's return teased at the end would set up episode 9 for two years of intense speculation and partially make up for the Snoke issue by showing the big bad villain has only just begun.
