Would Qui-Gon have shielded Anakin?

If Qui-Gon Jinn had lived and trained Anakin instead of Obi Wan would he have been able to shield Anakin from the grip of Palpatine. Qui-Gon was revered in the Jedi Order and his death led to shock to most masters especially with how good he was at combat.And the fact it was Qui-Gon who came across the ability to be able to stay in your form upon death with the force before the main Jedi Masters such as Yoda or even Mace Windu.
