I get why Anakin did --- guy had a really hard life. Grew up a slave, had to leave his mother behind still in bondage (that had to have made him sad for her and guilty), only to reunite with her as she died in his arms at the hands of cold cruel creatures. Not to mention being naturally gifted and feeling the Jedi were kind of phony. Toss in visions of the only person he loved other than his mom dying.......Ben Solo grew up the son of a princess and a cool smuggler/war hero. He would have not gone without anything as he was wealthy. Sure, his mom may have been busy rebuilding the Republic government, but his dad would be around, and definitely Chewy as a cool and loyal uncle. Toss in Luke as his uncle who would've been very interested/involved in his life.He had family, access to education, a home, money, probably fame/popularity given his heritage........where is the anger coming from?It seems disingenuous to me. I know people will say 'he was obsessed with Vader' but .......so what? That couldn't possibly make him "angry". Even then, he would've heard the full story of Vader's life from his uncle and maybe some others.I like Adam Driver, and he is the redeeming part of the character. But the character's story makes zero sense.I asked this on r/movies - and the common answer is "Snoke corrupted him".........ok, but how? Palpatine had threads to manipulate Anakin (his tragic past, his sadness over his mother, his insecurity, his desire to have power to saved his loved ones, etc). Whats the thread to manipulate Ben? He would have had a charmed life - family, surrounded by loved ones, wealth, fame, talent.......I just don't see the hook Snoke used.A tangent on Ben/Kylo - He comes off very whiny - and people seem to like it, I've heard people call it "complex".......He's a 30 something man throwing tantrums, but when a teenage Anakin who's faced a real harsh life did it, it was just "annoying". Personally I found both their whining to be annoying, I just don't understand the differentiation people have. I guess it has to do with the actor not the character. via /r/StarWars https://ift.tt/2K8q1uY
