Watching SW with a young son...

Since my son was born we bought age-appropriate Star Wars books. He knows the characters, some quotes, names of objects, places, etc.My son is now 4. He really wanted to watch the movies. So I've put them on (fast forwarding some bits). He floats in and out of the movies. He loses interest during any scene involving politics or romance. At these times he'll go off, play cars/dinos/whatever and come back once the action restarts. We also have Lego Star Wars on PS3. We only allow him to game on the weekend, when we get a chance between swim lessons, family catch ups and doing stuff. He LOVES this. He's absolutely crap at it but that's not the point. He is seeing the characters and learning stories. It's make believe and fun for him.He is obsessed. And my own knowledge has skyrocketed. I'm a 44yo mum whose Star Wars knowledge was limited to the movies. I now know what a Muftak looks like. And what the Tantive IV is (little embarrassed about this).Every stick he plays with is either a blaster or lightsaber. And he'll correct anyone who doesn't do the right weapon noise.I love this time with him.. I'm rewatching all the movies again (multiple times) and I'm loving them all again. Especially watching them through my son's perspective. A New Hope is seriously brilliant and holds up so well after all this time.Anyway.. That is all i have to say. Thanks for reading. via /r/StarWars https://ift.tt/2QsOi4H
