My apologies ro Michael Giacchino

I feel the need to apologize to Michael Giacchino. When I first watched Rogue One in theaters, I felt somewhat underwhelmed. It felt strange as a Star Wars movie for several reasons, but my main complaint was that the music was not done by John Williams. While it seemed like Giacchino did his best imitation of Williams’ routinely impeccable score, it didn’t click with me the first time around.I was wrong. Since the first viewing, I have seen the movie three more times. Every time I have watched it, I have found myself enjoying it more than the previous time. Again, the main factor of my appreciation was the soundtrack. Listening to it from the perspective that it isn’t John Williams made me realize how fantastic it really is. Whether listening to it along with the movie or all on its own, Giacchino’s score is tremendously emotional, wonderfully descriptive, and skillfully referential to the Original Trilogy.Rogue One is now one of my favorite Star Wars movies thanks in large part to the contributions of Michael Giacchino. The music of Star Wars will always mean a great deal to me, and Rogue One will be a worthy and excellent part of it.tl;dr: Didn’t like Rogue One’s soundtrack at first, love it now via /r/StarWars https://ift.tt/2zqda2p
